Social Media Manager

Salary: £35k-£40k per annum, depending on experience
Location: London, with options for international travel
Closing date for applications: 30 March 2016

The company

Right Angles is a small, tight-knit team of PR and CEO reputation specialists. Based in Covent Garden, we have an incredibly niche offering, and there are just seven of us - and we don't want to grow much larger. But we do need one more person - an experienced, highly motivated self-starter who can take responsibility, deliver results and work at an intense level, often for long hours.

What we do

We do CEO PR. Take a look at what that means here.

We don't do 'regular' PR in the sense of corporate or consumer PR. We look after the CEO only, doing their personal PR - positioning them as a thought leader on the global stage, getting them keynote speaking opportunities around the world, making introductions to the most senior journalists/editors, arranging feature interviews, creating and running their social media profile and blog, writing articles, speeches and presentations etc. A significant portion of our activities is not strict PR, and may involve turning our skills to securing investment, extending a client's professional network, or selling their products both in the UK and internationally.

We look after them as a 'person' too - coaching, advising, and acting as a 'sounding board' - generally 'being there' for whatever they need. We work alongside their existing corporate/brand media team. We are not publicists and we are not their press office.

This service is something really new, very niche, and wholly bespoke. We never get a brief. We tell our clients what they need to do, and then we make it happen. They rely on us 24/7.

Company culture

We are a small team of ambitious and highly motivated individuals. Everybody in our company is a self-starter, flexible and comfortable working with very little guidance. Due to the nature of our work, we operate at an incredibly fast pace and thrive when working to very tight deadlines. We often work unsociable hours including weekends and are happy to share responsibility for all tasks.

Our ideal candidate

The right person for us will have at least five years' experience overseeing multiple accounts across a range of social media platforms, preferably for business or political clients. You should also have proven experience of social media strategy and planning, content creation and delivery of day-to-day activity.

This is an influential role with a lot of responsibility, so we are looking for someone who:

  • Has sound judgement and the maturity to deliver under pressure or time constraints
  • Is incredibly hard working - driven, energetic and highly ambitious
  • Is a seasoned user of social media networks and tools, with experience of running a blog and range of social media accounts
  • Confident and with the ability to engage others - you need to be comfortable working with very senior people and high-net-worth individuals
  • Prepared to work, or be available to respond, at unsociable hours including weekends in order to manage social media presence and output for clients - this is not a 9-5 job
  • A team player, we need someone who can share responsibility for all tasks
  • Is interested in building and developing our client offering in this area
  • An excellent communicator, and foreign language skills are desirable
  • Personable, approachable and has a good sense of humour!

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Full responsibility for all digital content and strategy for all clients
  • Increasing the reach of wider communications activities through social media
  • Develop insights based on social media analysis and content performance - measuring effectiveness, ROI and creating periodic, detailed (and jargon-free) client reports
  • Understand and implement SEO activity for all clients
  • Develop quantitative analyses using platform analytics and other metrics to monitor performance, trends, and opportunities within social media channels including: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube
  • Work with internal and external resources to create engaging, relevant content across Right Angles' client base, overseeing day-to-day management of its distribution
  • Work with existing digital team on video, photographic, podcast and scripting projects
  • Reliably represent clients' interests and output across social media platforms
  • Identify new social media or digital platforms
  • Manage social media budgets across Right Angles' client base
  • Oversee Right Angles' corporate social media strategy

Email us

We are only going to consider serious applicants who have taken the time and trouble to really look into whether they think this role is right for them. Have a look at our clients here first, and along with your letter and CV, please attach a further note suggesting one new idea for any four clients on the page.

Please no 'boilerplate' applications; if your letter starts "Dear Sir/Madam", contains avoidable errors of any kind, or contains 'generic application letter' sentences which clearly don't apply to this role, your application will not be considered.

Agencies? No thanks.

Sorry guys. We will do the leg-work on this one ourselves.
